Your body gets carbohydrates from the foods we eat. Excellent sources of carbohydrates include bread, cereal, rice, grains, potatoes and other fruits and vegetables. Your body can get carbohydrates from other foods as well but they may be mixed with the other two large nutrients -- fat and protein.

The body stores carbohydrates in two ways; as glycogen in the liver, and as fat after converting the carbohydrates into fat. Glycogen is energy stored for immediate use, and fat is for long term storage.

We get carbohydrates through eating foods such as fruits and vegetables and products made with flour or grains ie breads, crackers, Pizza, pasta, cookies, cakes, cereal and rice to name a few.

carbohydrates are our bodies lead source of energy, after we run out of carbohydrates, our bodies switch over to another source of fuel, like protein for example. Excess carbohydrates that aren't used are stored as fats, which our bodies can use later.
