As yet there is no scientific evidence that low energy electromagnetic waves affect the human body. There are some studies that show that radio waves do produce a response in the brain but no evidence of negative effects. In the 15 to 20 years that hand phones/cell phones/ mobiles have been used there has been a slight decrease in the overall incidences of brain tumors in Western countries.

High energy electromagnetic waves have enough energy to affect human cells at the molecular level. Gamma radiation from nuclear reactions will cause death due to the effect on the cells. X-rays have a cumulative effect and can cause mutations of the genes in the gametes. Ultraviolet light causes sunburn, and has been associated with certain types of cancer.

There is one very obvious benefit for the human body. Visible light is also in the electromagnetic spectrum. It is detected by our eyes. Electromagnetic waves allow us to see.

At just the right frequencies they would heat them,

otherwise they just pass through.
