Your mental health can certainly affect your emotions. Many times, you can change your mood simply by changing your thinking. You can also find yourself "in a mood" without realizing that your thinking has affected you. The brain controls both mood and thought, so it makes sense that what you think about can change your emotion.
The mind is the mirror through which one perecieves the world to decide what to do with who and when. Perception is thus key to our attitude. Anything that affects perception will affect our attitude. This ranges from the basic senses (people with impaired sight, impaired hearing, especially in the begining, may change in their attitude: eg. elderly with a declining sight and/or hearing), until the "processors"of the brain. Perecptual alterations may thus affect our behaviors. Perecption may be altered with 1- Mood alterations: anger, sadness, over joy, tension, fear...etc 2- Chemicals: prescription drugs (eg. some antibiotics)and illicit drugs 3- Hormones: e.g Premenstrual dysphoric syndrome (PMS), after labor 4- Exhaustion: burnout, lack of sleep So our mind can be affected by a lot of things. It is necessary to attempt to stay clear in mind, focusing on a target: being goal oriented; where a goal maybe an achievement or otherwise. Having a direction is one essential element in keeping your attitude at bay or consciously "taking it out to sea" to risk the comfort zone pushing the boundaries one step forward.
