Initially, West Pakistan had the political power but when in the 1960s, a particular party in East Pakistan became the largest party in the Pakistani Parliament, the West Pakistan politicians for political/class reasons cracked down hard on East Pakistan. This caused millions of East Pakistanis to escape to India. India for political plus economic reasons, starting arming the East Pakistanis. India also then invaded East Pakistan. The end result was a humilitaing defeat for West Pakistan and this resulted in East Pakistan breaking away and becoming Bangladesh.
