Also Nylon was big hit at that time. Nylon was invented on 1939 by Wallace Carothers. After that the World War 2 happened. The soldiers had to carry their guns and stuff that they need it to survive. Such as tent, food supply, water etc. it was incredibly heavy at that time. So what they were thinking was that they changed the heavy bag to nylon. Also they used nylon parachute. It was successful. One scientist proved that the whole things that soldiers needed to care were 25 kilo per person. But it was decreased until 15kilos. It actually helped them to run faster and safer. So I would say it really help during the World War
