Best Answer

X-ray technology works by using electrical currents to create photons used for diagnostic imaging or radiation therapy. Electrons are accelerated with high voltage, which then collide with a metal (tungsten) target. The electrons interact with the atoms of the metal target to produce high energy photons (x-rays). The x-rays are then targeted at the patient with a film or detector behind them. Some tissues, such as bone, absorb the x-rays, while others allow the x-rays to pass by. The resulting image then differentiates tissues with high absorption (bones) and low absorption (lungs) which doctors can view to find any abnormalities.
