What are your next steps if A message appears on your computer screen stating that our antivirus program detected an infected file on your computer and is unable to move it to quarantine?

If your antivirus software is unable to quarantine a detected virus, it is either because of A) An error was encountered while moving the virus to quarantine on the hard disk, or B) The virus is putting up a fight against your antivirus software. When this happens, delete the virus or send it to the developer of the antivirus software if possible for analysis.

Use Virus Protection Software?

Before you go to file next year's taxes, you should always be sure to equip your computer with virus protection software. Virus protection software is essential for keeping your computer free of all viruses. There is nothing worse than filling out one's e-file and finding that a system crashes due to a virus. A computer system with virus protection software is much less likely to crash in the middle of filling out a an e-file. Also, securing your computer with virus protection software will ensure that your computer is not tapped into by hackers online. This can also be an unpleasant experience during tax season.

Why is it called a computer virus?

The naming of the computer virus has sort of the same roots as the computer bug. When the first viruses were discovered, people named it based on the main aspects of the object. The viruses focused on dumb cloning/reproducing, exactly like organic viruses, and there you go, the computer virus is born.

What is the worst virus computer virus?

Well, since that (Conflicker) worm did nothing and was just a lie, the worst worm ever probably will be ILOVEYOU, or loveletter. This worm has a love message (love-letter-for-you.txt.vbs), which is the virus. When opened, this virus attacks and sends a copy of itself to all your friends and contracts.I'll also like to put the virus known as Slammer next to the Loveletter worm, as it is just a powerful. Why? It infected 80,000 computer in half an hour. So it's name, Slammer, lived up to it as being the fastest virus ever.

Does mugen has a virus?

Do you mean MUGEN the game? NO, it does not. I have it on my computer, it works fine and it rly fun! It might have a virus if you downloaded it from an unknown site. To check to see if the program you downloaded has a virus, download AVG from Download.com and scan the file with it. If it is a virus, then delete it and next time download Mugen from Mugen-infantry.net

Can an antivirus program's 'virus definitions file' be used to reverse-engineer a virus?

I failed an exam some years ago over that exact question. I said yes, every virus could be reverse engineered with a definition file and it was marked wrong. It seems that sometimes they antivirus folks cant figure out exactly how the virus works, but will figure out how to disable and remove it. Then they just incorporate this into their av and move onto the next virus. Somebody with a background in programming would have a far better idea about this and could explain in alot more detail than I can.

What is the primary function of a virus?

Viruses are malicious software (malware) in which their sole purpose is to replicate and infect non-infected computers. Their are many mediums to which a virus can infect a computer, most commonly through the Internet and email attachments. When viruses infect a computer, it attaches itself to a "host" file (hence the name virus because it acts like a real world virus). Next, it injects its code into the host file so that whenever that infected file is run, the virus executes first and then the actual file starts. The "payload" is the official term to the effects a computer virus has on a PC.
