Overall, I would say the Taurus/Sables are not expensive to maintain.
Since they were the #1 selling cars for so many years, parts are widely available and reasonably priced.
Another consideration is the auto salvage yards have plenty of replacement parts.
There are also tremendous resources for repair & upgrade / modification information on the web - groups like the Taurus Car Club (see "Related Links") are invaluable support & how-to experts.
Yes. See "Related Questions" below for more on Taurus/Sable flashers, and a fix for common problems.

AnswerThis is going to sound off-the-wall, but replace the Transmission Range Sensor / neutral safety switch. The electrical system is being messed with by this sensor.See "Related Questions" below for more about this not-expensive and relatively-easy fix.
depends on the year, engine type, and what is needed to be repaired. i replaced the trans on a taurus a few years ago and it cost $2700 with labor. hope this helps.
A Taurus auto that will not shift from the column shifter is usually due to a transmission issue. Transmission's are an expensive fix. Shop around before committing to one mechanic.
No one knows if:The heater is NOT blowing - or blowing on high speed only, or... The heater IS blowing, but the air is NOT hotEither way, the "Related Questions" below will get you started
I have the same problem on my 95 Sable LTS
Replace it with new tubing.
Not sure if the 'fix' that works for late '90's Taurus / Sables applies to 2002, but...Short version: Lots of spray lubricant into the hazards switch on top of the steering column. This works its way down into the inner workings of the multi-function switch/turn-signal stalk.See "Related Questions" below for more
The actual gaskets are very inexpensive. The labor charges to actually replace them make up most of the charge. In my area this is a $500 to $1,000 job.
You cannot "fix" it. But you can replace it in about an hour.
Blower motors are not repairable - if they're not working, plan on replacing it.Easy and not expensive project. (about $40 for the motor)If the motor does work, but ONLY blows on high-speed, that's a different problem, caused by the blower motor resistor.Another quick-n-easy, non-budget-breaking fix. ($15 for the resistor)See "Related Questions" below for more details and procedures...Oh yeah, almost forgot to say "check the fuses first"... See below...
