Based on preliminary reports, the tornadoes of December 23, 2015 occurred across a broad region ranging from Alabama to Illinois and West Virginia. The only tornadoes in Tennessee appear to have been in the western part of the state and the closest report to Gatlinburg was about 270 miles away. Note that the surveys have not been completed and additional tornadoes that are not yet on official record may have impacted other parts of Tennessee.
