The main animal used by the plains tribes was the buffalo. The buffalo was used by them for food, the skins for shelter and clothing, they had religious rites celebrating the buffalo. No part of the buffalo was wasted. Before the European settlement there were millions of buffalo in the plains. After the civil war an overt effort to kill off as many buffalo as possible was put into place because it was known to be used by the plains tribes. The railroads would stop and people would shoot buffalo until their guns grew hot. Mountains of buffalo were killed. Combined with the killing of the herds was a drought on the plains and the millions of buffalo were no longer there, but were down to a few thousand. This helped push the plains tribes onto reservations.
Doubtful. I do know that passengers did shoot at the large herds of buffaloes as they rode by on trains--kind of an African safari for the rich, if you will.
They were not as mobile. The way they hunted was limited without the horse. For the plains Indians, who depended on the buffalo herds could not follow as well without horses. But the biggest difference was how they fought. A lot of the tribes were very peaceful but some were not. The tribes with horses had a huge advantage.
were skilled too shoot under horses chin
A very fast, very dexterous American soldier using the M1911A1 .45 could get off about 42 rounds a minute, though at that rate of fire, the accuracy would probably suffer from the barrel overheating.

Depends on the cannon. The field artillery used in the American Civil War could shoot about 1000 meters. The "Paris Gun" used by Germany in WW 1 could shoot 81 miles. The present day US 155 mm howitzer can shoot 25 miles with special guided ammunition.
