Depends on the size of the engine, the ratio of the rear end for the traction and the exhaust system. My last '76 El Cam had a stock 350 c.i. under the hood. I put a posi-trac rear end and put dual exhausts. Replaced the suspension and beefed it up a tad. Cherry Bombed the mufflers and put new Firestone Firehawks, then took the rod on the interstate on a five mile straight. Without no modifications to the engine displacement nor the carb, I maxed out at the top speed of 129 m.p.h. Guess your '71 could do the same, only a five year difference 'cept the wind resistance. Those cars are hard to keep, sold mine for 14 grand.

it depends on the year, i have a 1971 el camino and the wheelbase is about 116 inches.
The maximum speed of the Chevrolet El Camino pick-up automatic 8cyl 245 HP 1971 was about 115 to 120 miles per hour.
SS engines that year were the 350 and 454.
Yes, the front clips will interchange.
That all depends on the engine in it but you can figure 15 to 19 MPG.
