Have you considered how much your metabolism is burning? Any in case, a calorie deficit of 200 a day (1000 - 800) means you'd lose weight at about 1 pound of fat every 17.5 days. 1 pound of fat = 3500 calories

Of course you can! There are many websites that will tell you just how many calories a day you need to lose weight. Very likely, if you are a moderately active person, you will need 1700 calories a day just to live! Things like activity, height, age, muscle mass all affect just how many calories you need on a daily basis. But don't expect to lose weight fast, if you are eating that many calories. Expect maybe 2 lbs a week. That being said, you should not lose more than that anyway. Being healthy is lifestyle choice, the emphasis being on life. So why would you expect to get into proper shape instantly?

This will differ from person to person. First you need to find out your BMR. That's your basal metabolic rate, which is the amount of calories your body uses a day just to sustain life. Let's say that your BMR is 1200. So you must burn 500 calories more doing any type of physical activity just to maintain your current weight. Now, in one pound of fat, there are about 3500 calories. So if you were to burn an extra 700 calories a day: 1700 (your food) - 1200 (your BMR) - 700 (your daily activities) = -200. So each day you will be using 200 more calories than what you are consuming. So in 17 days you will have lost one pound of body fat.
