In the experiment discussed by Velayo (1993), the retention of verbal and visual content was measured with a time frame of one week. Students viewed a movie (vegetation reproduction) and were told to pay close attention to visual and verbal content. After viewing the fifteen minute film, one group of students was given questions to answer. Half of the questions were about verbal content and the other half pertained to visual content. The other half of participants in this study was given questions about the film one week later. The researcher wanted to compare the recall of the students who immediately answered questions after the film vs. the other group of students who answered the same questions one week later. Of the comparison between the two groups, the main focus was to see what content fared better, visual or verbal. Velayo found that verbal content was recalled better than visual content."
