Our language is not only innate in the sense that we have a brain that equps us with a brain that works to accomodate and make language happen, we also have an environment that stimulates ourselves. Chomsky equates this statement.

We are also equipped with a voice box to help humans to speak which makes us unique. All other animals talk but using different sounds. No creature on this earth can speak with such variety and scope than humans can.

Enriching an environment is an obvious solution to enhancing language. Also being equipped with full function of the larynx and voice box is another factor. But.......the question is that take the enriched environment away and what is the result........well, not all speech is affected. People still try to communicate but with the limited amount of ability. This may explain humans innate ability for the need to communicate and use our senses to feel the world. In this way, the brain 'wants' to do this to create stimulus, to bring about the millions and millions of neuronal networks.

To answer the above question, would be to use a longitudinal study, looking at the types of abuse occurring in individuals and then looking at each one, measuring (how?) the rate/impact this had on the individual to evaluate its impact on their life or their ability to function in life. This therefore is a very difficult question to answer as it not only considers quantifying particular issues but also considering qualitative methods.

I therefore believe this will be a persons life-long study of work.

Maybe this question should be turned around and we should ask:How is language affected by growth and development within the human who has been abused?

Trauma from abuse can impact language skills by causing speech difficulties, aphasia, or delays in communication development. Therapy and support can help rebuild language skills by addressing emotional healing and providing speech therapy. It is important to be patient and understanding as individuals may struggle with expressing themselves verbally after experiencing abuse.
