I just changed mine and it was nothing like the book said. I disconnected the battery then I took out the grove box and airbag . Then the passenger side kick panel for one bolt . then there is are two bolts at the windshield do the same on the drivers side. You can move the whole dash back far enough to get to the heater core .you do have a few bolts to remove but they are easily seen, All i needed was a 7 mm 8 mm and a 10 mm didn't have to remove none of the steeling column like the book says hardest part for me was unhooking the hoses on the outside need small hands. all together took me about 2 hours to do not really that hard i never even took out the radio or heater control . hope this helps
Is there any difference in replacing the heater core in the 2002 as opposed to an earlier model such as the 1997 ?...or is it pretty much the same job ?
There are several common heater problems for a 1997 f150. A stopped up or leaking heater core, bad thermostat or clogged up blower fan housing all can cause heat problems.
To change the heater core in a 87 ford f150 is easy. Just remove the glove box and then behind it there is 7 bolts. After you remove the 7 bolts then just remove the cover and behind it is the heater core. By far the easiest heater core I ever changed.
heater core hoses not hot
trust me that is not a job you want to take on. take it to a mechanic. you have to pull the dash out
remove glove box. remove platic cover behind glove box under hood remove both heater hoses at firewall under dash remove retaining screws on heater core remove heater core reinstall is exact opposite of removal
the heater core is located behind the dash on the passenger side of the cab. much of the dash has to be removed and shifted to get to the box that houses the heater core. the hoses that supply coolant to the heater core must be remove via the engine bay. it is somewhat of a lengthy process, but can be done with patience and time.
No
It is nnear where the heater core pipe enters the block. It is where a distributer would have been before EFI.
There is no short cut or fast way to do this. The dash has to come out to access the heater box and replace the core. So the steps in replacing the heater core are to disconnect the heater hoses, remove the dash, to access the heater core cover on the front of the heater case and replace the core. Reassembly is in the reverse order as disassembly. Fill the cooling system with new coolant, and burp the air form the cooling system.
How do I locate the heater blend door actuator in a Ford f150 pickup
