How harmful is it to jump a 1972 SuperBeetle and the positive cable leaned onto the metal frame it burned into it now there is no jumping it dead and a hard glassy black substance under the car HELP?

The frame/body is the ground on the 1972 Super Beetle. What you did was complete the circuit from your other battery and sent charge from the Positive cable through the frame. The closest/least possible path of resistance was through the negative ground strap on the battery in the VW-especially if you hooked the black cable directly to the negative lead in the VW.
Your fuses should have burned out before any real damage could occur to most of your electronics but you may have damaged your voltage regulator-or if you have fuel injection you may have fried it.
