Whilst humanity has differing ideas about what constitutes beauty generally it conforms with symmetry, the idea that both left and right sides of the body are equal and the same. Also smoothness and vitality are indicators of youth and fertility. In Western media this is taken to the limit, often requiring computers to remove any percieved flaws in visuals, and the mocking of any flaw which cannot be removed. Since almost everyone has some flaw this often leads to body image problems and exploitation through cosmetic enhancers, dietary quackery, surgical intervention and if these often expensive procedures don't work then the sufferer is expected to isolate themselves from society.
