Multiple reasons. You wouldn't want to be driving a original Ford, now would you?
Reason 1: Speed. Cars were made faster, so people can get more places in less time. Cars at the upper echelon continue to become faster.
Reason 2: Safety. Cars are constantly being made more safe, so less people will be injured/killed in the event of a car crash, and less car crashes will occur.
Reason 3: Comfort. Cars used to be pretty uncomfortable! Cars are being made more comfortable, for both the passenger and the driver
Reason 4: Entertainment. Cars used to not have TV, or satellite radio! Cars are being made more entertaining everyday!
Reason 5: Efficiency. Car parts have changed to become more efficient, and have better fuel efficiency as well as lower material costs.
Reason 6: Different Fuels: Cars have converted from leaded to unleaded fuels, and even to various electric fuels. These different types of fuels require different parts, and have different performance.
Reason 7: Better roads: Roads have become overall better with greater dependence on them. Cars are designed with this in mind.
Reason 8: Laws. Laws around the manufacture of cars have continued to change as needs have changed.
You open the windows. -That is one of the many ways cars have improved over the years.

NO NO NO not the economy..........cars GOOD for it......maybe word you want is ENVIROMENT........they emit pollution from exhaust pipes....has been improved immenslly last few years
