Queen Elizabeth was very important to the British people because she was the last of the Tudor family line and was the one that brought what we call "The Golden Age". England's religion used to be catholic when her father was in charge but then he broke away from Rome so he could marry Elizabeth's mother Anne Boelyn. Meaning he became protestant. But Elizabeth's older sister Mary was heir to the throne after Edward, their younger brother died as a teenager of tuberculosis. Mary was a catholic so the countries religion got changed back to catholic and Mary burned people who refused to change their religion or admitted they were protestant. But when Mary died of stomach cancer Elizabeth became Queen and because she was protestant, yet again the countries religion changed to protestant and she told everybody that they could be anything they wanted to be in their own homes, catholic or protestant as long as they appeared protestant to other countries.

Also Elizabeth's Armys won wars for England such as the Spanish Armada, if they had invaded then England would of never been like it is today, also she got the country of the great debt her sister Mary and her father Henry had spent on fine jewels and clothes, and gasoline to burn the fires.
