Elizabeth is a person who tries to see the real motives people have. By contrast, Jane is a person who rather sweetly sees the possibility of good in everyone. In the cases of Wickham and Darcy, however, it is Jane who is right and Elizabeth who is wrong. Neither is Darcy as bad, nor is Wickham as good, as Elizabeth would like to believe.
