How is Martin Luther King Jr's famous speach related to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights?

It's more a question of how the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is related to Martin Luther King's speech, since it pre-dates his speech by 15 years. The UDHR was adopted by the U.N. in 1948, whilst King gave his famous speech in '63. King made reference in his speech to certain basic human freedoms and rights that are specified in the various Articles of the UDHR, although he didn't mention the UDHR specifically. These basic rights included freedom of association, the fact that all human beings are created equal regardless of race, colour or creed, and the right to freedom of speech. Also the right to work for the same amount of pay as people of other races, and the right not to suffer harrassment or persecution because of your race or your colour. For more info. on the UDHR, try looking it up on Google- this should give you the Articles it contains number by number. Both addressed the need for civil rights
