They both have the same first names!

They also have similar degrees academically, questioned authority to try to bring about positive changes for society, and both were deeply devout Christians. Both tried to advocate their views in a peaceful way, but both inadvertently sparked bloody violence, in the case of Martin Luther, his views brought on centuries of violence between Catholics and Protestants, and in the case of MLK Jr., his views against racism were quite violently contested by supremacist groups like the KKK.
