Other than the "history" of Vietnam; the Vietnam War was orchestrated by WW2 veterans, such as General's Maxwell Taylor, Curtis LeMay, Harkins, Westmoreland, Abrams, etc. These men knew how victory was won in WW2 (with firepower); and Vietnam would be fought the same way.
