flying requires lots of energy, which demands a high metabolism. Enzymes need a certain temperature to work ideally, therefore, by maitaning a constant body temperature (endothermic), birds are able to ensure the ideal conditions for their enzymes which also ensures a high metabolism and high production of energy. If they were ectothermic, they would be unable to fly when its cold. Mst of the food they consume is used to maintain that constant body temperature. A disadvantage would be that birds have to consume alot more food compared to an other ecotothermic animal of the same size.
Birds are endothermic. Reptiles are ectothermic and are referred to as "cold-blooded."
They are Endothermic
All of them are endothermic.
birds and mammals are endothermic chordates
Both the peacock and the peahen are endothermic, able to regulate their own body temperature. They are birds, and birds and mammals are endothermic. The term 'endothermic' is the correct name for an animal that is warm-blooded.
Yes birds are endothermic as are mammals
Both the peacock and the peahen are endothermic, able to regulate their own body temperature. They are birds, and birds and mammals are endothermic. The term 'endothermic' is the correct name for an animal that is warm-blooded.
All birds are warm blooded, or endothermic.
yes all birds are endothermic or warmblooded.
Robins, like all birds, are warmblooded or endothermic.
A horse is endothermic, able to maintain its own body temperature. It is a mammal, and mammals and birds are endothermic. The term 'endothermic' is the biological term for an animal that is warm-blooded.
Fishes, amphibians and reptiles are ectothermic while mammals and birds are endothermic.
