After that, your system breaks down protein, then fats, and turns them into calories to burn also. Simple sugars are what the body must use to make heat and sustain every other function.
I.E. Pasta and white bread types' burn up fairly quickly, and real whole wheat/ potatoes types, are for a slower speed of assimilation. Adding some fats like olive oil with the carbo meal, does slow its assimilation even more, thus hunger is delayed further.
