How is cutting trees down help forests?

it does not help the earth in any way so please stop cutting down trees. it is actually really bad because pretty soon there will be no trees left.

Answer:

Forests should be managed to maintain their productivity. In their natural state forest fires periodically clear old growth to be removed so that new growth (an environment needed by many species) is present. Since people prevent forest fires there has to be a mechanism to renew the forests, this includes logging and replanting.

With regard to carbon sequestration, it is the new growth that removes the greatest amount of carbon dioxide. This is acomplished by logging and reforestation.
