Because not enough people are looking after it:
1. Climate Change - if the temperature rises then the permafrost will start to melt, this changes the physical structure of the soil
2. Climate Change - if the permafrost melts then this will release large quantities of Methane that is currently trapped in the ice
3. Natural Resources - the Thundra contains large reserves of natural gas that is now becoming commercially viable
4. Farming - industrial scale farming has a significant impact on the land
arctic tundra has been in net sink for carbon dixcide
It affects the tundra because people pollute, throw garbage and driving over it
With global temperatures rising, the tundra, Arctic, and Antarctic, are all losing ice and water levels are rising. Causing animals to die and/or go South.
Global Warming, Permafrost and oil/cole/gas extraction
It is shrinking because of Global Warming.

The main source of distress in the arctic biome is oil spillages from large trucks. Humans come into the tundra to get oil and coal. Also, because of the animals that live in the arctic tundra, we humans kill a lot of animals to get their fur to use as clothing.
The greatest problem animals in any biome have is human interference and destruction of habitat by humans.
Human impact on the tundra has generally not been a positive one. Because the tundra is such a delicate environment, even the slightest change in conditions can threaten the entire biome. Recent human activities have largely undermined the habitat of the indigenous wildlife through pollution and overdevelopment....
There are many factors that are affecting the Indian climate. Some of the common factors include human interference, deforestation, pollution of the environment and many more.
The desert biome, including the Simpson Desert, 'operates' quite well without human interference. Human activity is what causes problems, not the lack of it.
The tundra is a biome that does not historically see much change. As humans encroach, they may over hunt local populations, destroy habitat by living on the tundra itself, and set up oil drilling that destroys the environment. The tundra is also being influenced by global warming as glaciers and permafrost melt.
Polar bears are not endangered, but many Arctic species are, such as the woodland caribou, and musk oxen.
Humans can help preserve tundra by protecting lands where tundra ecosystems exist. Because it has a very short growing season, tundra is very sensitive to trampling and human impacts related to pollution and climate change. Not living there.
Human influences on tundra can include activities such as mining, oil extraction, tourism, and infrastructure development. These activities can lead to habitat destruction, pollution, disruption of wildlife migration routes, and introduction of non-native species, all of which can have negative impacts on the delicate tundra ecosystem.
