How is it that after I had turned all of the lights off in my house they came back on by themselves?

Its because your house is extremly old or youv been playing around with wichcraft..... get help fast or youl regret it....big time. im not trying to scare you or anything. call a prest or something to bless your house or whatever that will take care of it.

There is a switch on top of the steering column dead center. You must have accidently turned it on. It's a parking light.

Most likely, the dash light dimmer is turned all the way down. That particular dimmer only comes into play when the headlights are turned on. Try turning it back up. did you find out what was wrong with the dashboard im having the same problem
