Russia nowhere borders on the Atlantic Ocean, so it is a unrealistic comparison. The only thing you can say is that Russia near the Black Sea has roughly the same climate as the south European lands such as Portugal that ARE located along the Atlantic ocean . Differences are that the Black Sea area has a prevailing northerly wind and lies in the centre of an almost-permanent high pressure area, while southwestern Europe can have winds from all directions and can have periods with high as well as low pressure.

In both areas, winters are mild and short and summers warm to hot. Since the Black Sea area technically has a land climate and southwestern Europe a (subtropical) sea climate, the latter area's weather is just a little more changeable than that of the Crimea.

As to other aspects: the Don-basin and Black Sea-region is fairly backward economically and Russians from the heartland tend to look down on what the they often call "blacks", the inhabitants of the southern regions. Regions bordering on the Atlantic ( in France, Spain and Portugal) have a much higher standard of living and its inhabitants are not looked down on by their countrymen.
