Mutualism is similar to commensalism in that they are both symbiotic relationships in which at least one animal benefits. In Mutualism both the animals involved benefit whereas in commensalism one animal benefits and the other is neither hurt or helped.
commensalism
commensalismIn ecology, commensalism is a class of relationship between two organisms where one organism benefits but the other is unaffected.Malaria is parasitism:Parasitism is a type of symbiotic relationship between organisms of different species where one organism, the parasite, benefits at the expense of the host.
Mutalism: Both benefit Prasitism: one benefits, other harmed Commensalism: one benefits, one doesn't care
Well, some plants will actually attach themselves to a tree so that they are out of the way of weeds that might overpower them. The plant benefits because it's out of the way of weeds and other plants and it is able to reach more sunlight. The tree isn't harmed or benefiting from the relationship, it's basically just there to live, and in doing so it involuntarily helps the plant species.
