Heat up the washer well with a heat lamp or hair dryer. Apply Vaseline and slip washer with bevel side facing rear of gun, into one side of the groove, stretching washer slightly. Then, place firing valve on flat clean surface on the floor and use a wooden dowel or hardwood scrap (to save your fingers) to apply firm pressure around the ring until it slips completely into the groove. It may be difficult, but it will stretch slightly and finally go into the grove.
I think it depends on the scope of 'rebuilding' . -I have a 25 year old Senco angle nailer that needs a new 'O' ring on the hammer. As nails for this are cheap and easy to get, I think this tool is certainly worth repairing. A comparable new one would cost about $180 .

You will need oil free nail polish remover, a couple of paper towles or a face washer. Place the paper towel underneath the stain, saturate some of the other paper towel or face washer with remover and dab at the stain.
No, temperature does not generally affect them . If it's stopped suddenly, have you been oiling it regularly. It requires oil in the air tube every day you use it. Cold weather may make the piston's O ring break if unlubricated.

Yes, remove the nail. Fix-a-flat may work for a temporary fix but get a proper plug patch installed at your earliest opportunity. Take a crayon and draw an arrow on the sidewall showing where the nail was and you will be able to tell the guy at the tire repair where to look. The fix-a-flat also works better if the hole is on the bottom when you squirt it in.
Assuming you can deal with any infection, the sides must be stabilized by bonding the two halves. Use a small hardware store stainless steel washer, bend it to match the curve of the nail, and bond it with superglue. Then tape the end of the finger to exclude dirt. and let the nail grow out for several months. Again, infection changes this to a medical problem in a hurry, so watch the site.
you can't if you don't have a nail
A natural nail is the nail you were born with.
Acetone -the main ingredient in finger nail polish remover can be purchased at most paint stores- I would apply acetone to the sheets-let soak and vigorously rub stain until the polish disolves and then wash separately in the washer- or in the kitchen sink
