Recycling metals of any kind is a good way of saving energy, which in turn slows global warming a little. We produce energy (electricity) by burning fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas), which burning is also causing global warming, so we need to reduce this as much as possible.

Why is it important to recycle the metals you extract using electrolysis?

It takes a lot of electric power to refine metals by electrolysis. Such metals therefore are a kind of stored energy. If they are not recycled, that energy is lost.

Why is it important to recycle metals that you extract by electrolysis?

It takes a lot of electric power to refine metals by electrolysis. Such metals therefore are a kind of stored energy. If they are not recycled, that energy is lost, and more energy will be needed to refine more metals by electrolysis to replace them. High energy consumption is a major factor in environmental pollution.

Why is it important to recylce metals?

It is important to recycle metals because all the resources on earth is limited and no one on earth would like to run out of resources. Recycling is much economic than digging up metals in their compound form and then extracting it.

How do you avoid running out of metals?

Recycle

How can you conserved metal ores?

you can recycle the metals or use alternative metals.

Why is it important to recycle minerals?

Advantagesrelatively easy to recycle, metals can easily be melted down and reformed.Reduces scrap metal filling landfill sites.Process of recycling metals usually creates (much) less pollutants and greenhouse gases than extracting that metal from its ore.recycling for example aluminum only uses about 5% of the large amount of energy required to extract it from its ore.good for the earth, you can get moneyto some people it makes them feel good that they are doing something goodRadhika. How do you extract gold?

By reduction-oxidation reaction you can extract metals, including Gold, from ore.

Is energy saved if we recycle metals?

Yes, you save all the energy that would have been needed to mine fresh ore from the ground and to extract the metal from that ore. The amount of energy needed to collect and sort the recycled metals is insignificant compared to this (especially for metals like aluminum that are very hard to extract from their ores). You only need to use the energy needed to melt the pure metal, which you would have needed anyway after extraction of new metal from fresh ore.

What metals can you recycle?

Iron,Silver,Ag,Al etc...

Where can you recycle your metals?

pretty much every recycling centre :)

Is energy saved overall if we recycle metals?

no

How and why are metals such as aluminium and iron recycled?

The metals are collected and then melted at high temperature. They then have any impurities scraped off the top of the container of molten metal. The pure molten metal is then poured into casts and cooled. The blocks of metal can now be used again. It is cheaper and less environmentally damaging to recycle metals rather than extract them from their ores, in the ground.
