Basically because to make new clothes you have to use raw materials to create them. As well as this, the companies who manufacture them use a lot of energy just producing one item of clothing. The factories where they produce the clothing lets out smoke and harmful gases into the air through industrial sized funnels, polluting the air and contributing to the green house gases that is changing the environment. :) Things like energy are nopt infinate, one day they will run out and we don't want that to be soon, also it costs alot of money.. so it's better to buy clothing that is second hand, like a good deal from the local charity shops, because not only are you buying clothing that has been 'recycled' from someone else, but you are also giving money to a worthy cause.
