conventional warefare is where you have a definite offensive movement versus a definite defensive movement. this war is different because the enemy is standing in the shadows and blending in with civilians during the day. the same guy that walks by you in the market could be the same guy shooting mortars from the rooftops at night.
that is because terrorism causes threat to different countries.

The west is trying to fight in a conventional manner and this is not a conventional war.Terrorist usually win in the end. Of course they are then not called terrorists or revolutionaries but patriots, reformers etc
