To compare the flow of the Amazon to the Mississippi try the following. Take 2 two liter soft drink bottles and cut off the tops. Fill them with water. Now take a 12 oz. can (or 750ml or something close) and remove the top. Label the two liter bottles "Amazon." Label the can "Mississippi." Have someone turn them upside down at the same time and compare them.
