Esophagus is smooth in texture... Trachea is segmented in texture because trachea contains cartilage rings... Due to presence of cartilage rings, it is made sure that the trachea doesn't collapse leading to difficulty in breathing.. Anatomically, trachea is placed ventral to esophagus.
because trachea has cartilage rings and oesophagus not
Because there is a flap in your throat that covers the appropriate passage at the appropriate time. Ex: When you are eating, the flap usually covers the trachea. However, if you are laughing while eating, the flap can get very confused and may cover the esophagus instead of the trachea, allowing food to go down it. I hope this helped~

By appearance what do you mean?Appearance in another animal or person? If you are on about a person then appearance doesn't mean anything but if you are on about an animal then it means alot.Like we would rather a girl than a dog or elephant. It's just the same with an animal they would rather a different animal than a person.- Nailer125(Please leave my name there when editing or I will report :D thanks,)
There is more space that is occupied by H20 in the alveoli than the trachea. (BTPS - body tempertaure ,pressure saturated)
The esophagus is made up of tissue is stratisfied squamous and cuboidal. The cuboidal tissue is in cubes, the width is the same as the height. The trachea has tissue made up of Pseudostrasified epithelia cells and is columnar, higher in height than width
The epiglottis is a flap of cartilage just above your throat that protects the trachea, which leads to the lungs, safe from anything but air. If anything other than air gets to your lungs, you will die. That's why God, our amazing creator, specially designed the epiglottis to protects us from theses harmful objects. If you accidentally get food or water not going down the esophagus, but instead the epiglottis, the epiglottis and linings of your trachea are very sensitive and your body will cough to get it out. This works most of the time, but if the piece of food is stuck or too big, a medical medical professional will perform the Heimlich maneuver to help you couch it up so can breath.
