Yes green plants contain Chlorophyll a & b (green pigment) and apart from this there are carotene and xanthophyll. This can be very easily tested with the help of paper chromatography. Due to variation in their Rf values the four pigments get separated from each other.

Do variegated leaves contain starch?

sometimes the leaves which are not green contain chlorophyll. red /yellow like colored leaves contain it but the color pigment are higher than chlorophyll but the fact is colorless plants such as mushrooms doesn't contain it.

What do you call the green coloring pigment in plants?

The green pigment found in photosynthetic plants is called chlorophyll; it is responsible for converting sunlight, carbon dioxide and water into simple sugars through the process of photosynthesis.Chlorophyll is found in structures called chloroplastswithin the cells of the plant; Chloroplasts are concentrated in the palisade cells in the mesophyll tissue layer of the leaves and stems of most plants.Chlorophyll uses predominantly light in the red and blue portions of the visible light spectrum for photosynthesis, reflecting more green light and giving plants their typical green coloring.Pigment is the natural colouring matter of animal or plant tissue. There are three basic pigments in green plants:ChlorophyllCarotenoidPhycobilin

How are plants and animals different from each other?

They are not different, accept for the fact that one is in a plant and one is in an animal.Their size

Is zooplankton a plant?

Plankton can be plant or animal life - but the plant type of plankton is called phytoplankton, and some of those plants are in fact, green in color.See the 'Diatom' related link listed below for pictures of the green colored type of phytoplankton.

Which region of the visible spectrum is not absorbed well by chlorophyll?

Well there are actually different types of cholorophyll, and they absorb light from different parts of the spectrum, however the answer you are probably looking for is that they don't absorb light from the green part of the spectrum. This is in fact why photosynthesizing plants are green.

Does green tea perfume contain actual green tea?

Green tea perfume does not contain green tea, but in fact uses a large variety of synthetic substances to create the smell.

Why is green the poorest color to give plants energy to grow?

Most plants are green and the thing responsible for them being green is their chlorophyll (which is what is also responsible for photosynthesis). The fact that they are green means that they're not using that wavelength frequency. Red would be the best wavelength to get plants to photosynthezise and grow.

If you were an alien how would you describe human?

It depends if I was a green martian invader I would say that I was surprised at their ignorance, lack of green pigment, and ability to breath oxygen. I would also think less of them due to the fact that they aren't as advanced as me

Does light color grow plants?

Plants, in fact, do grow faster under certain colors of light. The reason for this is that chloroplasts can only absorb certain wave lengths of light because of the pigments they contain. There are 2 photo systems in plants called photo system I and II. PS I absorbs light on the wavelength of 700nm while PS II absorbs 680nm because of their utilization of chlorophyll A and B Green plants will grow SLOWER or not at all under green light. Basically, green is the only brand of light that the plant's chloroplasts doesn't use. That is why it is the only colour reflected from the leaf, and is what we see.

What does plants are green factories mean?

I think this refers to the fact that the chlorophyll in plant cells make plants green. Plants are amazing organisms and photosynthesise, like a factory they take in substances and turn them into something useful i.e. water and carbon dioxide and turn it into oxygen and energy

What does your environment contain?

Just about everything. In fact everything from plants , animals ,microbes to rocks ,hills water falls etc & the list goes on.

Why did plants choose to be green?

plants are green because they absorb all light wavelengths other than green light. The green light bounces off the surface instead, and into an observer's eyes, causing them to see the plant as being green. Not all leaves are green, and some plants, like Japanese Maples, get the same amount of energy from sunlight as a plant with green leaves. This causes me to think that the fact that leaves are green is sort of arbitrary. The color of the leaves in fact has nothing to do with photosynthesis (as someone who answered this question previously suggested), which is merely the process by which energy absorbed from sunlight is used to convert carbon dioxide into sugars. energy is stored in the bonds of these sugars.

What do axolotls eggs look like?

They are, in fact, very similar to Frog Spawn and are generally laid upon plants. They look like Brown/Black 'dots' coated with a clear membrane - though a lack of pigment in the egg would suggest that one parent was an Albino Axolotl. Sometimes, though, pigment appears later in the development.

Does plants contain a cell wall?

Most living things are built from cells, and that means both animals and plants. In fact the word "cellulose" comes from the name of the substance found in the cell walls of plants.
