Transmission Fluid can be sucked into your oil if the modulator valve fails on the transmission. A modulator valve is mounted on the side of a transmission and is hooked to a vacuum line that is connected to the engine. If the diaphragm in the valve ruptures then you end up sucking transmission fluid via the vacuum line into the engine. If not repaired promptly you can very easily double the volume of "oil" in your engine as the transmission fluid mixes with the oil. A simple test is to disconnect the vacuum line that runs down to your transmission and if it is filled with trans fluid the diaphragm in the valve has ruptured. A modulator runs less than $20 and takes about ten minutes to replace (if you can get at it). On some vehicles there is an access plate cut into the transmission hump (under the carpeting) that allows you to access it from within the interior of the vehicle. 1994 Mazda B3000 for example.
Dexron auto trans fluid.
NO. Very different fluids for very different purposes.
Motor oil, trans fluid, gear oil, power steering, washer fluid, coolant, brake fluid, gas..... Please be more specific
You will notice two lines going to your radiator from the transmission. One is a service line and one is a return line. The radiator has a transmission cooler built into it. If you have trans fluid in the radiator chances are the trans cooler is leaking. A little trans fluid in the radiator will not affect engine cooling BUT as soon as the pressure drops in that transmission you may very well have radiator coolant sucked into the tranmission and that will ruin a transmission in a hurry. You need to get this checked out as soon as possible.
jeep dealer in bloomington in. said 10w30 motor oil. Depends on the year and trans. some take 80w90, some take a synthetic trans fluid, others ATF.
I'm not a mechanic / technician but I have read that if the vacuum modulator on your automatic transmission is bad than fluid out of the automatic transmission can be sucked into the engine
A 1997 uses Mopar ATF+4 as the trans fluid.
Absolutely not. Ignore anyone who tells you different.
20-50 wt motor oil OR HD Primary oil
20/50 motor oil and you can use sport trans fluid in trani if you can find it. this is the old fluid used, but you can also use the new stuff which is Formula+ or the synthetic Syn3 in the trani, both of which are available at Harley dealers.
It will contaminate the trans fluid and very likely gum things up. I would drain and fill entirely with new fluid.
