"It" may be a noun or it may be a pronoun; it is also an abbreviation for "Italy" and an acronym for "Information Technology".

It is never a noun it is always a pronoun.

It refers to anything that is not a person: The car has stopped, it is out of petrol.

It is also an empty pronoun in sentences such as:

It is sunny today. It's lucky I saw you. What time is it?

It is not polite to insult people when they ask questions.

The time will come when rude people will have to answer for their bad behavior even if it takes awhile.
