Processors run so fast these days that they generate enough heat that they could actually destroy themselves. So modern CPUs are surrounded by a heat sink to dissipate heat away from the CPU and it also has a fan attached to it. The heat sink and the fan are the housing.

When upgrading a CPU what must be applied between the new CPU and the heat sink fan?

Thermal grease to allow heat to transfer to the heat sink.

How do you cool CPU?

With a heat sink and fan.

What goes between a CPU and heat sink?

Heatsink compount or special heat pad. The reason for this is to form a tight thermal bond between the processor (CPU = Central Processing Unit) and heatsink for the best transfer of heat away from the CPU.

What is the main function of the UPS?

what is the function of the heat sink fan? *well the CPU generates heat and in order for the CPU to remain in a safe temperature zone a haet sink is added on top of the CPU.

Does a computer CPU need a heatsink?

What is normally applied to the heat sink of a CPU to insure good heat?

Thermal compound is usually applied to a CPU's heat sink to allow heat from the CPU to be transferred to the heat sink more effectively. The most commonly used brand by PC enthusiasts is Arctic Silver 5, a silver-based compound that transfers heat extremely well due to it's metallic base.

Which objects will be touching thermal paste?
