it matters on the plant - on some too much will kill while some can't get enough. light is a vital ingredient in the process of photosynthesis without it and water co2 can't become glucose (sugar) and o2. depending on the plant more sunlight can create more photosynthesis and glucose enabling the plant to grow. DO NOT GIVE TOO MUCH SUN TOO SOME PLANTS!!!!!!!!!!!! In some plant such as coriander too much sunlight can parch the plant causing it to go into seed making mode without growing its edible leaves. as with coriander too much sun can kill plants so check how much light a plant needs before doing it. some need a lot of sugar while some can die on hot days no matter how much sugar it gets
