Yes they will
If you don't want any more pups then remove the male otherwise leave him in. Gerbil males make amazing fathers and help care for the pups with mom.
Once the gerbil is pregnant, the male should be put into another cage, away from the female. In fact the female's cage should be in a quiet, isolated place. Then, she is more likely to feed and care for the pups. So, remove the male from the cage ASAP.
Female gerbils are called does, the males are called bucks, a baby is called a pup, and a group of them is called a clan or a horde.
no a gerbil pup needs its mothers milk to survive when it is young
If the gerbil mother is not staying on her pups long, she may be feeling stressed. If she leaves them to go scratch in the corner often, or if she is moving the nest a lot, this might be a sign of stress. If her tank is not wire, cover one side of it with a towel to give her some privacy. If it is wire, dim the lights in the room. Put a lamp light on one corner, not to close, just to barely warm up one side of the tank for mom. However, as long as the pups have milk beans in their tummies (if they are still that young), and are not dying off, it will be okay. Gerbil pups are pretty tough! If they are still younger than three days and you do not see milk beans, you may need to buy kitten replacement milk and feed them through an eyedropper three times a day.
Yes, this is unusual. Usually a the father stays with the mother and pups and helps to take care of the pups. If your male has died leave a older daughter of the mother to help care for the pups.
