The US Army has something called the 18X enlistment option. This option gives people an opportunity to attend the Special Forces Qualification Course right away. Making it through the Q Course is the first step in becoming a Green Beret.

Can you be a Green Beret and a Ranger in the US Army?

The Green Berets practice "unconventional warfare" in its many forms. The Green Berets are organized into elite commando units, each consisting of 12 members, which conduct stealth raids and ambushes. In addition to direct combat, Green Berets are trained for guerrilla war, sabotage, and subversion. An aspiring Green Beret must serve about three years in the Army before applying. From there, he enters a two-year long "pipeline" before being assigned to an operational group. Every Green Beret must learn to speak a foreign language. The Army Rangers are light infantrymen that perform many of the same duties as the Green Berets raids, ambushes, and airfield seizures "by land, by sea, or by air." Any 18-year-old male may apply to the Rangers when enlisting. The specialized training takes one and a half to two years.

Who are the Green Berets?

"The Green Berets" is a nickname referring to the United States Army Special Forces. After being selected for and completing the Special Forces Qualification Course, conducted at the Special Warfare Center (SWC) in Ft. Bragg North Carolina, soldiers are allowed to wear the Special Forces tab and the Green Beret. However not long ago, anyone working in Group Support Battalions were allowed to wear a green beret. This was reversed and stands today allowing only those holding the Special Forces Military Occupation Specialty to wear the Green Beret.Additional AnswerThe green beret is also worn by Royal Marine commandos, and this predates the US special forces' use of the green beret. The green beret must be 'earned', as it is only issued to a marine upon completion of training.

Are there women in Green Berets?

Well the first person was wrong. There is one female Q Course Qualified Green Beret. It was a long story but it was what the movie GI Jane was all about, but they just change the military service for a better story. She was released several times for not making the qualification but always returned to her class due to political pressure from congress above the military branches. At one point she was away from the training for 3 months and returned to the training class that she left while the continued the struggle. She graduated with the class and was awarded the Green Beret patch " Special Forces " but soon after left the Special Operations Command and got in trouble in the military and left the military completely to promote her status as the first woman in the US Special Operations Command as an Green Beret.

How long did the union army occupy atlanta before burning it to the ground?

It took over two months

What do they train you in green beret boot camp?

US Army Special Forces (the Green Berets) go through the same Basic/Advanced Individual Training or One Station Unit Training any other soldier goes through. If they enter the Army as an infantryman, then go to Special Forces from there, they would go to Infantry OSUT. If they entered the Army as a cook, they would have gone through Basic and AIT for a cook. You don't enter Special Forces straight out of Basic. You're first required to have been in service long enough to have made it to E-4, then you apply to attend the Q Course, which is the selection process for Special Forces. You can apply for the Q Course regardless of what MOS you held previously - infantry, medic, mechanic, whatever.
