I'm no doctor.

Blood in your poop can be due to something as simple as hemoroids or eating something with a sharp edge in it like part of a nutshell.

A one-off bit of blood on your toilet paper should be noted. if it continues for a number of days... see your doctor.

Dark tarry poop is more worrying. You should know your own poop as you know what you ate yesterday. What is important is a change that you did not expect.

Poop samples can be sent off for testing in the UK [UK National Health Service... bless 'em] it's routine for middle-aged folk.

Colon cancer can be successfully treated (my brother was cured fourty years ago).

Don't ask me ask your doctor!
