Mine previously 740 (1985) was never server properly. Previous owner always offered his car for service by 'a one mechanic garage' In 1997 the car had 240.000 kms and I became the new owner and I continued the service attitude of the prevous owner. The car WA put on LPG at that time (but without replacing the head). With 415.000 kms a new head was required but it was to expensive to replace the head. The car was swapped for a 940 and I presume that was the end of the 740 (I presume).
The new 940 (build 1992, bought 2001) had 250.000 kms and was on LPG from the beginning. It was propered serviced by Serva Volvo in Soest. In 2007 with 490.000 kms I bougt a newer 940 with 250.000 kms on it. The old car became the car of mine wife but she likes to have a smaller one. Now with 502.000 kms we are looking for a new owner for it.
The latest 940 (1998) was a LPG car too and will ride for years.
This car is serviced by the same official Volvo dealer and I must admit that this is done much better that any local garagist can do it.
But even with lesser professional service a Volvo 700/900 must be able to make 500.000.

I don't know. I have tried to find out but I bump into something first and my insurrance company totals the car due to high milage.
380,000 Miles on one without engine or transmission repair. except wear items like crank position sensor, Spark plugs at 200,000 mi, fuel filter, Oil and filter every 20 to 40,000 miles, Oil seals once and a couple timing belts and a water pump.

That question is impossible to answer. It depends on many factors. How the engine is serviced and maintained, how it is driven, and the climate it is driven in. If properly maintained with quality parts, according to the recommendations in your owner's manual, and driven with care, it could easily last 200,000 miles without major repairs. But you never know with a mechanical device such as an internal combustion engine. Parts can fail at any time even if they are serviced properly. There is No guarantee!
The cam will normally last the life of the engine, if the engine is serviced regularly.
Any 10W40 is what i was told when car was serviced last month hope this helps Any 10W40 is what i was told when car was serviced last month hope this helps For the 1.4 petrol it's 5W40 Fully Synthetic - What engine is yours??
If properly cared for and serviced 10-20 years or more.
If well lubricated and not abused, it should last the life of the engine 100,000+miles.
assuming that it was serviced properly, youre brakes should last around 2 years under easy driving conditions ( you dont drive the crap out of it). 2 years
The generator and mechanical fuel pump can be problematic, but the b20 engine is overbuilt and incredibly strong, if you treat it right it will literally last you a million miles.
Depends on how the engine was maintained and how the vehicle was driven. It is was serviced regularly according to the manufactures recommendations and driven normally and not abused it should last over 200,000 miles with no major repairs. It could last even over 300,000 miles. It really depends on many factors.
They are built to last the life of the vehicle if the vehicle/engine is maintained properly. What destroys a catalytic converter is an engine that is not running right and is ignored.
If properly maintained a diesel will last much longer.
You need to contact Volvo with the last 8 digits of your VIN.
It can last the life of the vehicle. But it can be destroyed by an engine not running properly in a very short period of time.
