for as long as you take care of it.
Depends on the engine but severe engine damage will start to occur almost immediately. It will run a few minutes until it starts to overheat then the engine will seize. It will not take long to destroy the engine.
NO! Don't attempt it. Don't run diesel in your gas engine and don't run gas in your diesel engine! It will cause your engine to run improperly with loss of power and lots of white or blue smoke. It will clog your engine and if you run it with the wrong fuel too long, will result in complete engine failure.
Until you turn off the engine...
It is not recommended, the check engine light will come on, and in the long run the engine will sludge up.
You run it until the engine reaches normal operating temperature on the temperature gauge this way the oils viscosity will be correct. on colder days you need to run it longer.
With proper care and maintenance, Forever. (or as close to)
That depends on the engine size.
You should let the ventilation system run about four minutes before starting the engine on a boat.
If the enigne was run for very long with no oil then there is only one way to get it started. Follow these steps: 1)Remove engine assembly from vehicle 2)Overhaul engine or have engine overhauled by machine shop 3)Reinstall engine and restart Long story short you probably seized your engine, and caused critical bearing damage. You need a new engine.
Diesel run in any petrol engine will do damage if you can keep the engine running for a long period of time. A petrol engine will not start and run on diesel fuel alone Posted by Danny from Bee Mech Mobile Mechanics
It will run but not for very long. No oil pump means no oil will be moving throughout the engine to lubricate and cool the engine. The engine will overheat, bearings & rings will wear and in a short amount of time the engine will lock up and self destruct.
Nothing as long as you do not start the engine. If you start and run the engine with no oil, then it will self destruct in short order from lack of lubrication.
