i have a ten gallon tankk and keep mine on 24/7.
If you have a smaller tank just try diffrent times, like turn it off before you go to school or work, and turn it on when you get home, or turn it off at night, and leave it on all day. Just expereiment.
A Hermit crab can live up to 100 years of age
About 2-3 days as long as you have someone giving them water everyday
It will usually be molting for a month or two. It's important that you try to leave your crab alone when it's molting.
it never sheds
1 year
Hermit crabs can. It happens when the hermit crab is changing its shell and falls over or when the hermit crab is dead it slides out or falls out of its shell! Sadly they can't always get back in there shells and die.
Hermit crabs can get up to 1 or 2cm . - Taylor Musgrave ; Myspace mee (:
Actually it doesn't take very long for a hermit crab to smell when it's dead. They will not smell if they just died. About 10-15 mins they will start to smell. You have to put the hermit crab up to your nose in order to smell the rotten fish smell.
Up to 20 years
It is not necessary to bathe your hermit crabs but if you would like to bathe them, this is what I do: -fill a container with enough dechlorinated water to fully submerge your largest crab. -Place the crab in the water upside-down -Leave the crab in the water for two minutes. Don't leave it in the water for too long or it will drown. Once you place the crab in the water upside-down, it will flip itself over and begin walking around or just sit there.
no as long as you take care of it and you are not overcrowding the tank
However long they feel like it
