By most accounts, the president's father only lived with his wife and son during the first year or so of young Barack's life. President Obama has written about his vague memories of his dad, which were basically shaped by his father's brief visit (one month) when young Barack was ten years old. Other than that, he never saw his biological father.
Barack Obama lived with his father, Barack Obama Sr., for a relatively short period of time. His parents divorced when he was just two years old, and his father returned to his home country of Kenya shortly after. Therefore, it can be said that Obama lived with his father for only a couple of years.
Yes and no. Yes, as in they were both born into the Muslim faith. No, as in Mr. Obama's dad left Islam and rejected all religions, and Mr. Obama's step-father was an educated man who was very moderate about religion and did not try to impose his views on anyone.
Yes absolutely. If you have read Mr. Obama's autobiography, "Dreams from my Father," a constant thread for him throughout much of his life was wondering why his father had left and why his father had no real contact with him. In addition to trying to answer these questions by finding out more about his father's life, Mr. Obama also promised himself that if he ever had kids, he would be a very real and positive presence in their lives; by all accounts, he has been a very good father.
I am not sure what "purebread" means in this context. Mr. Obama is biracial. His father was black, and from Kenya; his mother was white, and from Kansas.
His name was also Barack Obama. Someone said it was Framk Marshall Davis. What was his mother's name? Was he born in Kenya Africa?
Based on his writings (the book "Dreams from my Father"), Mr. Obama was disappointed that his father died, because even though he barely knew the man, there were still questions he wished he could have asked-- especially about why his father had abandoned him and shown so little interest, and why he had not kept in touch at all over the years. His father's death led Mr. Obama to decide to visit Kenya for the first time, to try and get his questions answered by talking with his father's immediate relatives.
President Obama does not have any brothers. His biological parents only had him before they divorced. His mother re-married and had a daughter, so Mr. Obama does have a half-sister; and on his father's side, his father too remarried (several times), so the president has by some counts at least six half-brothers. Some live in Africa, and others live in England; at least one is deceased. Most of his half-brothers are either businessmen or professors.
We can not answer for Mr. Obama.
According to his own writings, Mr. Obama was very discouraged that he never had a relationship with his father. He had no idea why his father showed so little interest in him over the years. When his father died, it made young Barack determined to learn more about who his father was and why he had acted the way he did. The end result was a trip to Kenya in the late 1980s to meet his dad's family and to try and learn more about the man he barely knew. You can read more about how he felt, and about his journey to Kenya, in Mr. Obama's autobiography, "Dreams from my Father."
Mr. Obama's mother died in Honolulu, Hawaii of cancer in 1995; his biological father died in Kenya in a car accident in 1982.
First, Mr. Gilbert's video, a work of partisan propaganda, should not be confused with Barack Obama's autobiography, "Dreams from my Father." Mr. Gilbert's film claims that Barack Obama's father was not really Barack Obama Senior, and tries to prove his "real" father was a Communist named Frank Marshall Davis. There is absolutely no credible evidence to support this theory, but Mr. Gilbert certainly tries. If you do want to see the video, it is for sale online at Amazon.com or at any other video store that carries current and recent DVDs.
The President was born in Honolulu, HI. His father was born in Kenya.
Yes, President Obama and his family have their primary residence in the White House in Washington DC. But the Obama family also has a home in Chicago, where they used to live before Mr. Obama became president.
