What would it be like working in the mines during the Industrial Revolution?

During the Industrial Revolution people worked in Mines, Factories and Plantations. The mines were very very dark, cramped and musty. Diseases were caught very easily during the Revolution. For example TB was very common. The dust in the mines was very dangerous and killed many people, mainly children. Children were forced to work in mines as they could get into small tunnels and cramped dark areas. Children were very innocent victims of mines as they were killed by various things. Coal carts were very heavy and had to be pushed up steep hills. If a child had stopped or stepped a foot wrong they were killed or probably left to die. Also people had to work very long hours and some mine owners were allowed to adopt children from an orphanage and make them work. Adults were paid about 3d and worked from 12 - 15 hours a day. Children also worked long hard days to about 10 - 12 hours, and started work from as early as the age of 6. I hope this answer helps and I'm sorry it is a bit bad but i am only 13.
