Cooking times are very hard to pinpoint because there are so many variables that affect it. Different ovens, The temperature of the food before it begins cooking. In an oven heated to 275 degrees you cook a roast for 28 minutes per pound. Therefore the estimated cooking time for a 4.8 pound roast is 134 minutes or 2.23 hours.
how long does it take to heat a 5.5 lb rib roast at 275 degrees to an internal temperature of 135 degrees
A general rule of thumb is to cook all chicken and turkey until it has an internal temperature of 165 degrees. Typically you cook a half hour per pound leading you to cook it for approximately three to four hours.

I'd preheat the oven to 600 F, then put the roast in to slightly sear the outside to hold in some of the natural juices. As soon as you put the roast in, lower the temperature to 350 F and roast for approx 15 minutes per pound. That 15 minutes is not sacred, use a meat thermometer and determine when it's done by the internal temp shown.
That sounds a bit low. I roast mine at 350 deg. and it takes about 45 min. per pound to cook. What's important is the final temp. inside the roast. You need to get an oven thermometer that you can stick into the roast and check to see if it reads at least 170 deg. If not keep cooking. The lower temp. you cook at means it will take longer to reach 170 deg. inside.

Put it in a baking pan or roaster with a lid. Add a little water to the skillet you browned it in and add that liquid to it with a little water. Don't let it dry out while it bakes. A pork roast is better if you bake it on a low heat, 250 or 275 degrees for several hours. Maybe 4 or 5 hrs. JJ3001
